backyard. A certified wind turbine means all this was done at a third party

An alternator’s superior
performance is achieved at higher
speeds by a balanced 3-Bladed Airfoil w/ high tip speed
ratio (wind speed multiplier). Bottom line: There is no
real benefit to having more than three blades. The Skystream

Will
WeKnow Technologies sell a turbine with more than thee (3)blades? It is theoretically possible to achieve a slightly higher blade
efficiency in low wind speeds (No real power here) with more blades.
However the aerodynamics (turbulence/flutter/back pressure /tower thump ) of a
turbine with more then three blades should not exceed 32 MPH. As this will
create
excessive vibration effecting the life / performance of blades, shafts,
bearings, tower and create sounds like a weed wacker or helicopter . Be
careful.... This year (2010) we have had many companies create new fancy
web sites and they have no real experience.
TRUE DOWN WIND
DESIGN: blades made using a process called
"Compression Molding" (Not
Plastic!). This process produces a blade that is
inexpensive yet very strong. Tests indicate the blade has a 10:1
strength ratio. The purpose of the swept blade design is to
reduce a common issue with DOWN WIND (no tail) generators called
"Tower
Thump".
